Chairman of the Qatar British
Business Forum

The Qatar British Business Forum, or as it is most commonly referred to by its acronym, QBBF, was formed in 1992 with the active support of the British Embassy to focus on how business relationships between the host nation Qatar and the United Kingdom could be developed. The QBBF enjoys an excellent working relationship with the British Embassy and the Office Manager is co-located within the UKT&I Section of the Embassy in the West Bay Diplomatic Area of Doha.

From its early beginnings, the QBBF has grown is stature and influence to become one of the most prominent Business groups in Qatar, and at December 2010, included over 400 members representing many diverse business disciplines.

The QBBF affords a platform for its members to meet regularly for networking purposes at breakfast, luncheon and dinner events which feature speakers on topics of local, regional and international interest. Opportunities also exist for members to enlarge their social contacts through a varied social calendar

Qatar features prominently in international media and business publications against a background of the State's growing economy, development plans, (embodied in the Qatar National Master Plan, and Qatar Vision 2030) and the State's winning bid to hold the FIFA World Cup in 2022.  The consequent massive expenditure in infrastructure will inevitably mean many opportunities for the United Kingdom to increase its trading position with Qatar. The QBBF intends therefore to play an active role in facilitating and encouraging growth in trade relations between Qatar and the United Kingdom.
